Friday the 13th. What is the origin of the Friday the 13th?

During the Middle Ages, the superstition against Friday the 13th grew. On Friday, October 13, 1307, King Philip IV of France ordered the arrests of Jaques de Molay, Grand Master of the Knights Templars and sixty of his senior knights in Paris. Thousands of others were arrested elsewhere in the country. After employing torture techniques to compel the Templars to "confess" to wrongdoing, most were eventually executed. It is said that de Molay cursed at the time of his execution, in 1314, promising that both Pope and King Philip IV would die in less than a year. Both died in 1314, and sympathizers of the Templars condemned Friday the 13th as an evil day

Legend or fact, Friday the thirteenth has generated numerous stories and even diseases like Paraskavedekatriaphobia

What is Paraskavedekatriaphobia ?

It is fear that some people have, about having bad luck on them on Friday 13th .......

According to the Stress Management Center and Phobia Institute in Asheville, North Carolina , more than 67 million people are affected in the United States for this fear of this day . Some people are so paralyzed by their fears that prevent their normal routines, as doing business, taking flights or even getting out of bed . If I were in a  Ros´bed, I would never get out.

International Children's Rights Day – 20th November

Children in Tilcara  going to school
"The best way to make children good is to make them happy" Oscar Wilde
Today, November the 20th is International Children's Rights Day – 20th November. All children under 18 years are entitled to have rights without distinction of race, sex, religion or national origin.

The millions of children affected by the Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, by the conflict in Syria, wars in Africa and poverty in other parts of the world, remind us daily how vulnerable children to natural disasters and atrocities caused by adults are.

In 1989, governments worldwide promised all children the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfil their potential. They apply equally to every child, regardless of who they are, or where they are from.

Every day these rights are denied. Millions of children are dying from preventable diseases. Millions more don’t go to school, or have food, shelter and clean water. Children are subjected to violence, abuse and discrimination, and go unheard. This is wrong.

80th Aniversary of Ros Furniture

Sr. Josep Ros Puigpinós,
Ros Furniture´s
This year, 2013 we are 80 years old.

Ros furniture was founded in 1933, when Mr. Josep Ros Puigpinós opened a small carpentry in Artesa de Segre, province of Lleida, Spain. What at first would be an artisan carpentry and joinery became soon a small workshop thanks to the enthusiasm and eagerness of its founder. This small workshop took constant changes and transformations throught eight decades, with continued activity, exchange of ideas and constant improvement to become what is of the Ros Group today.

Logo Ros Furniture 1940

So it was in 1933 and after a continuous training, when Josep decided to open his own workshop in Artesa de Segre. Counting only with a universal machine and the tools necessary to be an artisan wood shop and for the manufacture of almost all types of furniture.

Have fun painting your walls!

The decision is yours. Yours parents and friends can give you advise, but at the end of the day. The room must have your personality.

Paint your walls! This really helps change your room. If your parents won't allow you to paint your walls, that's okay. Move on to the next step. If they will, that's great too! Make sure that you pick a color that you like and that goes well with a lot of stuff. If you want, you can paint all of your walls the same color, but some like to have a few different colors to provide variety. Other people go nuts, paint each wall a different color, and have no theme whatsoever. Do whatever you like! Whatever you do, make your personality shine! If you and your parents are struggling to decide what color to paint your room, compromise! Do your parents want you to paint your room light pink, but you want to paint it black (or vice versa)? Compromise by painting your room light pink and use black as an accent!

Another option, it is to put stickers walls in your room. There are Artistic vinyl wall decals for Kids, Teens and Adults who prefer decorating walls quickly and easily. There are to many manufacturers, we work and recommend figurayfondo

Painting your room, should be a very personal exercise and fun, and if at the end, you do not like the result, you can always painting back ;)

Have fun!!

Today is the international day of older persons.

A demographic revolution is happening worldwide. Currently, there are 600 million people of 60 years old and older, and this number will double by 2025 and will reach virtually two billion by 2050 - most of them in developing countries.

We are in eternal debt to our elders. In Ros, for every sale of a cot we do, a euro is donated to the association "Sisters of the Poor" The charisma of this organization is the spiritual and material caring in assistance of Elders.

I have a dream

50 years ago this man had a dream.

The "dream" of Martin Luther King seems even more difficult to achieve today than 50 years ago, with so much inequality and wealth being more concentrated in a few.

We must not give up hope, and fight every day for a better world.

Do you sleep alone or share your room with your brother or sister?

Every child is different, and every family is a universe, but many parents experience said that children sleep better when they share a room with their older brothers. But what about the older brother?.

When they enter adolescence, tenneagers give a lot of importance to their own space.

In Ros, we don´t only look at design furniture, quality, functionality, furniture and many other things. We also consider the changes that arise in the growth of children and  we offer different solutions: Bunk beds, train beds, folding beds, endless possibilities to share space and at the same time made the kids feel that they are within their own space. It’s time to redefine beautiful

Foto de Jade Beall
Natural as life itself;  the mother´s body.
Without manipulation, photoshop or retouching programs.

That is the proposal offered by the American artist, Jade Beall. The body of a woman during and after pregnancy as it is.

She began photographing herself when she became pregnant, then arose the project  'A beautiful body Project', a journey around the portraits of naked and  pregnant women, or after giving birth. A journey whose destination is the transformation of a woman's body after motherhood.

A social cure of beauty perception, in the words of the same Beall.

When can babies start sleeping through the night?

Elite Convertible Crib
When babies are able to sleep through the night and when they actually do are often very different things. Some infants as young as 3 months old can snooze for six to eight hours at a stretch. Others won't sleep this long until they're 12 months. But most babies (70 percent) do sleep through the night by the time they hit 9 months, according to the National Sleep Foundation. You may have heard that bigger babies and babies who eat solids are better sleepers — but it's not true. Your baby's ability to sleep through the night is related to age, not size or diet.

Watch, enjoy and respect. World Environment Day

Foto de N.S.B. "La Adrada, Ávila, Spain"
Today is The World Environment Day, this year has the theme: "Think, eat,  and save", a campaign to reduce waste and food loss.

We just say, look, enjoy and respect.

We remenber that Ros Furniture has participed in the project
EcoInnovation CONVERTIBLE COT-BED Project. Pioneering project in Spain, where Ros1 and another four companies (not from the furniture industry), carried out a study with the CENFIM, Centre of Technological Diffusion of Fusta i Moble de Catalunya, the USC University of Santiago de Compostela and the ICTA, L'Institut de Ciència i Tecnologia Ambientals. A laborious project, focusing on the environmental study on the life cycle of a convertible crib bed, in the case of Ros1. The study covers the life cycle of production of the convertible crib bed, including energy consumption and production of various elements used in its manufacture.

Also we
use biodegradable paint. Two-component polyurethane varnishes to water produced and sold by ICA Spa. These varnishes are the result of technological innovation project by LIFE, funded by the European Commission for its important efforts in environmental protection.

For how long the bassinet?

For how long the bassinet?

The bassinet can be used until the childddoes not have enough space, usually its use is limited to the third or fourth month of the baby.

Today is recommended that babies stay in the  parents room for longer, up to 4 or 5 months., and be close to the mother, so breastfeeding becomes easier overnight.

These are recommendations

Furniture for our kids

If there’s one kind of purchase that a lot of us make with the long-term in mind, it’s probably furniture. Unlike things such as clothes or accessories, we usually don’t walk into a store to get a couch and think, “This will be really nice for the next season.” No, we want to buy things that will last for quite some time.
There might be one exception to this rule, though and that’s when it comes to our kids. That’s mostly because as they grow, so do their furniture needs. Also, as we get to know them as individuals, we are able to see what their personal tastes and preferences are when it comes to colors, themes and styles. This means that a lot of other things have to be taken into consideration when you’re out shopping for children’s furniture because it’s not just about what you like to look at, but also what’s going to be physical safe, visually appropriate (long-term) and financially wise.

Larger spaces in children´s rooms favor greater motor activity in children

When we talk about children and youth furniture, we have to take into account the environment and the space, and the furniture´s adaptation to small spaces, which is the case of many homes today. Our worry is to design free environments in small spaces. In 1974, Mr R.H. Smith already warned that larger spaces in children´s rooms favor greater motor activity in children, activate their creative, behavior, physical contact and their verbal communication. In Furniture Ros we work hard desining folding beds, wardrobes that fit into any space, functional bunk beds: All this with one goal, to be functional and solve problems of space, projecting free spaces for our kids.
